Transgender Youth School Guidelines from TransActive Education & Advocacy

TransActive "How-To" Guide picture

TransActive Education & Advocacy, a leader in education on trans children & youth issues has released their "How-To Guide for Oregon Public & Charter Schools". It contains valuable information for how schools everywhere can support transgender children and youth.

Written specifically for Oregon schools (but useful for schools everywhere), the guide provides information on how K-12 schools can implement policies and procedures that will not only insure their compliance with the recently enacted Oregon Safe Schools Act, but that will provide a safer, more supportive and respectful learning environment for all students who identify as transgender or who may simply express their gender identity in non-conforming ways.

At a time when the Middleton, Connecticut Board of Education has enacted policies that discriminate against and exclude transgender children & youth from participating in athletic activities, this guide will help school districts and administrators implement proactive policies that provide all students with a healthy learning environment and access to extra-curricular activities.

The "How-To Guide for Oregon Public & Charter Schools" can be viewed and downloaded here, or by clicking on the image at left.

TransActive staff are available to provide more education & training regarding transgender and gender non-conforming identity in children and youth. For more information on scheduling a workshop, please send an email to: services@transactiveonline.org
